Our Specialist Firearms Command unit supports unarmed colleagues who are working operationally across London. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Armourer to join us: there isn’t another Police Service in the UK with the variety of challenges that this role offers.

Joining our dynamic environment, you’ll inspect, service and maintain all operational and training police firearms (and less lethal options), to demanding quality standards. A clear communicator, you’ll offer guidance to operational staff with a wide range of user requirements, so they have complete confidence in their equipment. Supporting the Force Armourer, you’ll play a key role in controlling MPS records and auditing firearms to ensure that standards are maintained.

It is essential that you are trained, and in possession of, a Class 1 Armourer’s certificate or BTEC / NVQ level 3 in an engineering subject. We also require that you have relevant experience having been previously employed as an Armourer within a military or civilian environment.

A Full UK Driver’s licence is essential.

A basic level of IT literacy (microsoft excel/word) is preferable.

To apply, please visit our website to download a role-specific information pack and application form.

Completed applications must be returned by 25 April 2017.

Please note we are only able to review the first 30 applications received.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
