Business Edge Ltd offer the first European Training for Split Systems using Hydrocarbons as Refrigerants
A private owned Company, established in January 1990, offering Training and Assessment Courses to the Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Industry. We are an authorised Centre for City & Guilds, LCL Awards & BESA. Business Edge have provided comprehensive training to Service Leavers since 2008 utilising ELCAS funding in the transition to civilian employment.
Business Edge has teamed up with Training Partners in Italy (Centro Studi Galileo), Germany (IKKE) and Scotland (Renewable Heat Institute) to launch a Joint Training Initiative to increase awareness and improve competency in the safe use of hydrocarbon refrigerants in split systems.
The proposed revision of the EU F-Gas Regulation, expected to be in place from 1st January 2024, is expected to place a ban on split systems (12kW) using any refrigerant with a GWP (Global Warming Potential) above 150. At present, for such applications, the only refrigerant meeting this requirement is R290.
Business Edge is fully equipped with the specialist tools and equipment for use with flammable refrigerants (i.e., recovery machines, vacuum pumps, mobile and permanent leak detectors, ventilation fans to dilute the flammable concentration, etc.) to ensure entirely safe operation when working with R290.
The training will follow the ACRIB Flammables Training and Assessment Course.
In particular, the practical part of the training will provide the procedure to install and service these systems in a safe manner, focusing on the inter-connection of the external and internal units, pipe jointing, evacuation, charging and recovery of refrigerant, leak testing, commissioning and safely repairing systems.
