Sarah Atherton loses position as Minister for Defence People
Sarah Atherton has lost her position as Minister for Defence People, Veterans and Service Families

She tweeted to say she will continue to advocate for Forces personnel, veterans and their families.
"On Thursday night I was pleased to attend the Soldiering on Awards as my final event as Minister for [Defence People, Veterans and Service Families]", she tweeted. "Following the reshuffle, I am returning to the backbenches where I will continue to advocate for our Armed Forces, Veterans, and their families. "We must all #SoldierOn."
Since becoming Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak has overseen a number of changes to those serving in government defence roles.
Afghanistan veterans Johnny Mercer and Tom Tugendhat were both appointed in a Cabinet reshuffle by Mr Sunak.
Mr Mercer was appointed to his former role of Veterans Minister while Mr Tugendhat was re-appointed as Security Minister and will attend Cabinet, Downing Street confirmed.
