Forces Employment Charity to host Pathways into Tech event for ex-Forces keen to explore a tech career

Time to step into tech?

The tech industry is booming. It offers varied and rewarding careers, often with excellent salaries, prospects, and flexibility to boot. However, it can be a daunting sector to break into. Yet, those from the military community have extensive soft skills that make them highly desirable to tech employers. That is why the Forces Employment Charity is holding its Pathways into Tech event (PIT24) on Wednesday, September 11th, at the prestigious Google Academy, London.

An event by ex-Forces for ex-Forces

Created specifically for the Armed Forces community, PIT24 gives veterans, Service leavers, reservists, and military families a chance to discover tech career paths. It offers opportunities to learn from industry leaders, network with top employers such as Google, Lloyds, Roke, and Xero, actively looking to hire ex-military personnel and attend workshops on key industry skills.

Register for Pathways into Tech 2024

The journey from military logistics to tech success – Seru’s story

Army veteran Seru Nainoca attended a Forces Employment Charity event where she was encouraged to sign up to TechVets, a Forces Employment Charity programme.

She says, “That was a transformative experience for me because it served as a gateway to discovering Techvets. I signed up for an onboarding session, which acted as a stepping stone to understanding what TechVets was all about and the support that was offered. It not only clarified some of the things I was unsure about, regarding a career in tech, but it equipped me with the necessary knowledge and the tools to be able to make that successful transition into the tech field.”

Thanks to the support she received, Seru went on to secure a tech role within Defence Digital.
