The LMN, (Lloyds Military Network), placement scheme is a core part of Lloyd’s commitment to service leavers and veterans. Each participant is assigned a mentor – either a veteran or an experienced insurance professional to offer personalised advice.

Identifying veteran employees, within the Corporation of Lloyd’s and the wider London Market, approximately 1,000 veterans are currently employed. Veterans are identified during the application process via a self-declaration option, ensuring that Armed Forces community members are recognised from the outset and can benefit from targeted support. Retention levels for veterans are closely monitored and are consistent with the organisation’s overall workforce trends. Recruiting veterans, veteran recruitment is spearheaded by the Lloyd’s Military Network (LMN), which delivers a biannual placement programme across the Lloyd’s market.
The scheme typically includes an eight-week work placement at a participating firm, offering veterans practical experience in insurance and reinsurance, while also creating vital networking opportunities. Ahead of each intake, LMN engages with firms across the market to raise awareness of the programme and the strengths of Armed Forces candidates. This proactive approach ensures a steady pipeline of veteran talent entering the market. Dedicated pathways, the LMN placement scheme is a core part of Lloyd’s commitment to service leavers and veterans.

A tailored technical training programme complements on-the-job experience, starting with an Introduction to Lloyd’s and the London Market and progressing through key industry concepts.The placement scheme boasts a 90%+ conversion rate into permanent employment, demonstrating its effectiveness in bridging the gap between military and civilian careers.
