Centrica
Centrica’s commitment to veteran recruitment is led by its specialist Pathways team, which runs outreach initiatives across the Armed Forces community.
Centrica is a FTSE100 energy services and solutions company with a mission to energise a greener, fairer future. Operating across the energy transition spectrum – generation, storage, distribution, retail and repair – Centrica employs around 19,000 people in the UK. With a strong focus on inclusion, talent development and community engagement, the company recognises the Armed Forces community as a critical and high-performing talent group. Veterans, reservists and military families are not only welcomed but actively supported through Centrica’s dedicated Pathways programme, Forces Network and wide-ranging veteran initiatives.
Centrica estimates it employs over 500 veterans in the UK. The company captures Armed Forces affiliation during the recruitment process and at several points throughout an employee’s journey. Information on veteran status is stored and analysed to improve support, measure retention, and inform business planning. Insights from this data help shape the Centrica Pathways programme and are used to tailor career support for service leavers and reservists.
The Centrica Pathways programme includes the highly successful Forces and Athletes Leadership Placement scheme, which brings in mid-career veterans to fill leadership and management roles. The annual programme identifies high-potential individuals and offers a tailored development journey that integrates commercial learning with peer support.
