This webinar will explore how the skills and expertise that many military personnel develop throughout their service careers can be effectively applied to a commercial role, provided there is a clear understanding of how.
The webinar will be led by Jo Haigh, Founder of OnBoarding Officers and is an award-winning Non-Executive Director, including The Sunday Times NED of the Year. Jo has over 35 years of commercial experience as an Executive Director, Business Owner, Non-Executive Director, and Chairman.
Jo will share her first-hand insights into areas where organisations and boardrooms are lacking key skill sets, and what a role in a commercial environment may look like in terms of responsibilities and commitment.
We will also take a look at the profiles of former military personnel who have successfully transitioned into commercial roles, evaluating the transferability of specific skills they possess.
Craig Blackburn, former Royal Navy Lieutenant Commander, will also join the webinar to share his personal resettlement journey, his transition to his current role as Chief Operating Officer, the skills he was able to carry forward into this role, and any hints and tips he can offer.
Alison McKinna, Portfolio Non-Exec Director, Board Chair and Senior Independent Director, will also join the panel, drawing on her 30-year executive career to bring valuable first-hand insight to the session. Alison will offer a practical perspective on boardroom dynamics, including the diverse industries and the range of individuals who serve on boards, as well as the unique expertise each can bring.
