Senior executive workshop and networking with Citi: London 1 Dec 2026
Officers at OF5 and above hear from executive search leaders and senior veterans about moving into boardroom and senior civilian roles.
The Forces Employment Charity is running its next Senior Executive Workshop and Networking day (SEWN) in London on Tuesday 1 December 2026, hosted by Citi. It is aimed at senior officers at OF5 and above who are leaving the Armed Forces and want to work out where their leadership experience fits in the civilian market.
The day brings together senior Service leavers, executive search specialists, industry leaders and officers who have already made the move, with a mix of talks, open discussion and networking. There are 20 places.
The programme will include:
- A view of the senior jobs market, the sectors that are growing and what civilian employers expect at board and executive level.
- A speaker who went down the self-employment route, and what they learned along the way.
- Opportunities in financial services with Citi, and where military skills tend to fit.
- Building a credible personal brand and online presence, and explaining your value outside uniform.
- What digital, data and AI mean for people in senior leadership roles.
- Non-executive directorships, with the Global Managing Partner of Heidrick & Struggles.
- Senior officers who have moved into defence, tech and energy talking about how they did it.
What you should leave with
Attendees should come away with a clearer idea of how to approach senior civilian roles, how to describe their leadership, operational and strategic experience to employers, and which sectors and conversations are worth pursuing. The day also covers routes other than a traditional full-time job, such as portfolio and non-executive work.
Networking session
The workshop is followed straight away by a networking session from 5pm to 7pm with senior people from industry, executive search firms and fellow senior Service leavers. Arrival and refreshments start at 10am, and a sandwich lunch is provided.

Places are by application through the Forces Employment Charity. If the workshop is oversubscribed, priority goes to officers closest to their leaving date.
