Farnborough Airport is offering a two-day placement behind the scenes with either its ground handling team or its rescue and fire fighting service.
Farnborough Airport is running a two-day work experience programme for over-21s, giving the successful candidate a behind-the-scenes view of business aviation and the teams that keep the airfield running.
You spend the two days with either the ground handling team or the rescue and fire fighting service.
Ground handling
A guided airfield tour and an airside safety briefing.
Observation of key ground handling operations, including aircraft marshalling, towing and fuelling.
An insight into the part ground handling teams play in a safe and efficient aircraft turnaround.
Rescue and fire fighting service
A tour of the airport fire station and facilities, and an airport tour with the RFFS team.
A safety briefing and an introduction to emergency response procedures.
Taking part in a supervised live-fire training exercise, with demonstrations of breathing apparatus equipment.
The chance to act as a pump operator under close supervision.
Shadowing wildlife control and learning how wildlife hazards are managed on the airfield.
Activities may vary depending on operational requirements and availability.
