Dorset police opens recruitment to ex-forces personnel
The Force recognises many veterans find transitioning from the military to serve the people of Dorset natural and rewarding, with many ex-service personnel holding the same skills as police officers and staff.
Applicants can choose from four different routes to join Dorset Police as a police officer:
- Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) – no degree needed and opportunity to earn whilst gaining a Diploma in Professional Policing Practice.
- Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) – earn whilst gaining a degree in Professional Policing Practice.
- Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) – must have a degree. Earn while you gain a Diploma in Professional Policing Practice.
- Professional Policing Degree (PPD) – must have a Professional Policing Practice Degree.
With a starting salary of £31,164, Dorset Police officer recruits can earn up to £50,256 within seven years of joining, plus a generous pension, which can be transferred from a military pension to the Police Pension Scheme or Local Government Pension Scheme (subject to individual circumstances).
