Whitbread’s restaurant business has collaborated with Blue Light Card (BLC) to provide a discount on food ordered from its main restaurant menu for those who work for the Armed Forces, NHS and emergency services.

BLC – the UK’s biggest emergency services, NHS and Armed Forces discount provider – was launched in September 2008 and has since welcomed more than a million members, providing in-store and online discounts to those who put others before themselves every day.

Whitbread Group, owner of Beefeater, Brewers Fayre and other restaurants, has partnered with the scheme to give those who put their life on the line a welcome discount when dining with family or friends. To redeem the offer, card holders simply need to show proof of their BLC membership to the server when ordering and present it when the bill is requested.

Says Phil Birbeck, managing director of Whitbread Restaurants, ‘The UK’s Armed Forces, NHS workers and emergency service personnel are among the thousands of public-sector workers who do us proud on a daily basis. We are delighted to offer the BLC meal discount as a small token of our appreciation for the outstanding work they do.’

Whitbread also recently announced its military recruitment scheme by joining forces with the MoD to help veterans get back into work, making it easier for spouses and partners of serving personnel to find jobs in the UK.

The offer entitles the holder of a BLC to 25% off their food bill. To sign up, and for full details (including terms and conditions), visit www.bluelightcard.co.uk
