Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award for NMiTE

NEWS

20 Nov, 2019

NMiTE (New Model in Technology and Engineering) has been formally presented with a 2019 Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award. The coveted MoD award recognises NMiTE’s support of the Armed Forces family and its encouragement of others to do the same.

NMiTE was created in 2018 to help solve the problem of Britain’s estimated annual shortfall of at least 22,000 engineering graduates with a radical new approach and a curriculum that combines the best innovations from leading universities around the world. It aims to become a university for and of the future, and has been working closely with the military and veteran communities in Hereford and beyond. It hosted a Career Transition Showcase for Armed Forces veterans in September and plans to deliver a new age of engineering-related education to professionals through its CPD (continuing professional development) series.

NMiTE’s Steven Haines, who collected the award, says: ‘With a 25-year military career behind me, it is really special to be collecting this award from the MoD now I am a civilian. I have been very fortunate to utilise my transferable skills for a smooth and significant career change, and am passionate about helping other veterans explore similar opportunities for change and development. It is fantastic that the work NMiTE is doing, including its newly launched CPD programmes, as well as the relationships we are building with likeminded local employers are being honoured at such a high level.’
