Team Manager – Submarine Operations and Support

Team Managers play a vital role, managing and leading teams of technical specialists through change to meet production targets, customer requirements and achieve wider organisation aims effectively. This role will directly support the Defence Customer and our national interests.

About Submarine Operations and Support (SOS)

The MOD requires a range of specialist products and services to support submarine deployments and activities. The Submarine Operations and Support (SOS) team is responsible for meeting this requirement.

The role

The purpose of the role is to develop and drive the Submarine Operations and Support Team to deliver quality output to time, cost, and specification. The SOS Team Manager is also responsible for ensuring that all relevant security processes are followed by the SOS team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Collaborating with key stakeholders to create and maintain production schedules, forecast product output and ensure that production targets for quality, quantity and timeliness are met and reported on a monthly basis.
Leading change activity in the use of new production tools in line with requirements from the Defence Customer with a focus on improving production timeframes and reducing errors. 
Liaising with Joint Geospatial Intelligence and end users to understand their needs for products to support Submarine Operations, to establish priorities, and to refine the detailed specifications for products. This will include interfacing with civilian and military contacts on a national and international basis. Attendance at bilateral meetings and conferences may be required.
Acting as line manager for the SOS Team Leader and SOS Technical Lead and undertaking appropriate staff development, coaching, and mentoring.
