Are you ready to train for an MCSE?

There is no doubt that working towards Microsoft accreditations will expose you to the cutting edge of IT technology, but what qualification and package are you ultimately going for? This is the crucial part of being able to secure meaningful employment. Most companies will not hire a systems engineer without a Microsoft première certification, which carries a proven level of professionalism and competency that is highly recognised and desired throughout the IT industry. There are literally thousands of classes, each with dozens of methods. It all adds up to a ton of information. You need to ask yourself two questions.
Do I possess the motivation and interest in learning information technology skills?
Do I have good maths and problem-solving skills?
Ownership of a PC combined with basic user skills is essential, and access to the Internet is recommended.
To answer these questions, let us consider some further skills that are essential before attempting Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). You should be familiar with networks and computing and, according to Microsoft, you should have around 12 months' hands-on networking experience in order to pass the seven exams. It is recommended that students should read up on and study networking before attempting this course. There are many routes to professional IT certification and experienced IT professionals can usually jump straight into whichever course they need to gain their preferred certification. However, less experienced people may need to take a number of steps to achieve their ultimate goal.
For people with little or no experience, the recommended route is a package that includes the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+ and Network+ courses; after that they would need to take part of the MCSE or MCSA qualification to become a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) (see http://www.microsoft.com/traincert), which is also a pass in one of the core exams for MCSE.
CompTIA certification is through its sponsored, nationally recognised testing programme. At A+ level, certification requires passing two tests: Operating Systems and Core Hardware. These tests measure the level of competence for installation, repair, troubleshooting and diagnostics of personal computers (PCs). At Network+ level, certification requires the candidate to pass one demanding exam. The test measures the level of competence the candidate possesses, the knowledge needed to configure and install the TCP/IP client, and covers a wide range of networking technologies.
The MCP core exam - Networking & Operating System Essentials) - introduces students to Microsoft Windows 2000 and to the networking technologies it supports. Students describe user accounts and security, identify the tools used to perform administrative tasks in a Windows 2000-based network, and identify the networking architecture and protocols associated with Windows 2000. Students identify the hardware and software components required for Windows 2000 network communication, including remote access services, web services, and utilities for network maintenance.
The MCSE requires extensive self-study to supplement in-class lectures and labs. It is absolutely essential that students follow the required reading and complete all homework assignments in the syllabus. It is also important to realise that the Systems Engineer Certificate includes significant technical terminology, which students must understand in order to achieve success.
Trainers must guide and support students into what will suit individual needs; not only before and during training but most importantly after the course, especially when it comes to offering work experience (hands-on practical training) and then getting the right job placement!
The typical roles of qualified MCSE/MCSA/MCPs are to analyse business requirements, and design and implement the infrastructure for business solutions based on the Windows 2000 platform and Microsoft server software. Implementation responsibilities include installing, configuring and troubleshooting network systems.
You will be expected to enhance, deploy and manage sophisticated intranet and Internet solutions based on Windows systems and Microsoft server software.
The Microsoft Windows 2000 MCSE is one of the best IT training courses and platforms for individuals wishing to find employment in the IT job market. If Service leavers wish to make good use of the experience they gained during their time in uniform they can use this qualification together with their previous experience to work in areas like business analysis, project management and strategic management. IT is a critical part of every commercial business sector.
In the future, your worth will be measured by real-world skills complemented by the right qualifications and your ability to work with a wide range of types and brands of the latest technology frameworks. As this increasingly becomes the case, an MCSE or MCSA with commercial experience will be important tickets for your future.
