Wherever you are going in logistics and transport, our specialist knowledge will help you connect

The Ministry of Defence recognises the benefits to be gained from encouraging military personnel to gain membership of leading professional bodies. CILT(UK) is the leading professional body for logistics, transport and integrated supply-chain management. It aims to meet the professional needs, and to promote the interests, of all those who work in the sphere of logistics, and to encourage the adoption of policies and practices that are both efficient and sustainable. CILT(UK) is the UK National Council of the global organisation CILT International. CILT International now has a presence in more than 30 countries across the world. This network of members and contacts helps to connect CILT(UK) members with worldwide expertise.

CILT(UK) membership is open to serving and retired members of the Forces (Regular and Volunteer). The level of membership available to military applicants will depend wholly on the individual’s qualifications, the extent of formal training received, and their relevant professional experience.

CILT(UK) offers its members a number of membership benefits, as well as privileged access to a comprehensive range of educational and development programmes at all levels, including:
  • the opportunity to network with other logistic and transport professionals through the nationwide Regional network, the Faculties and their Forums, National and Regional Events, visits, seminars and social occasions; an informal Learning and Development network as a source of advice and guidance on career development and change
  • a professional development programme offering training and development courses to UK and European standards, through a network of centres or distance learning; this includes the CILT Level 2 Certificate in Logistics and Transport, the CILT Level 3 Certificate in Logistics and Transport, the Fritz/CILT(UK) Certification in Humanitarian Logistics, the CILT Level 5 Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport and the CILT Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transport; some of these qualifications can contribute to entry to degree qualifications – both BSc and MSc; in addition, the Institute offers its own distance learning MSc programmes, which are delivered online.

Logistics, purchasing and supply chain training – at a distance

Distance Learning College & Training (DLC&T) is one of the UK’s leading providers of logistics, purchasing and supply chain training courses. Established in 2001, DLC&T’s quality of service has been recognised with numerous industry awards, including Best Training and Development College of the Year from Business Britain, British Telecom RBT Award for Trainer of the Year and ‘Centre of Excellence’ status.

Distance learning is an ideal way to gain the accredited, chartered institute qualifications so important to enhancing career opportunities. DLC&T offers courses from pre-level 2 (introductory) to level 7 (master’s equivalent), all taught by industry-experienced tutors, ensuring students achieve excellent results – the college boasts a 97% exam pass rate, one of the highest in the industry.

The great benefit of distance learning is the flexibility it offers: ‘Students can study at their own pace and at whatever time suits them to fit around their personal and work commitments, rather than having to adhere to a fixed day and time each week,’ says DLC&T marketing manager, Joanne Harvey.

DLC&T cites its unique 360-degree support structure as the key to its students’ success. ‘They benefit from the highest level of support from us at every stage of their studies,’ says Joanne. ‘This includes 24/7 email support from their personal tutor, telephone support when needed and feedback on work.’ There are free monthly face-to-face workshops for those who want them, tutorial sessions, the opportunity to meet other students, and use of the library. Student liaison support ensures students’ studies are working for them and they are managing their work/life balance.

Online support allows students to access regular course-relevant blogs from DLC&T’s development and tuition experts, as well as enjoy social interaction with tutors and other distance learning students via the DLC&T chat room.

For more information on courses at DLC&T visit www.dlcandtraining.co.uk, email sales@dlctraining.co.uk or call 0800 0126 770.
