An end to recession in sight?
Although it was widely reported earlier in the year that the UK economy is moving slowly into growth and has exited recession, the CBI has warned that a full recovery is unlikely until 2012. GDP figures released at the end of January revealed that, in the final quarter of 2009, the UK economy grew by just 0.1 per cent, which was less than economists had predicted. So, the UK may have ‘officially’ emerged from the longest recession in 80 years, but according to news service Reuters, CBI director-general Richard Lambert has warned that it will take years for the economy to get back to where it was before the recession.
