SIA text messaging service

In early October last year, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) launched its new text messaging service, which sends out texts to SIA licence holders to remind them that their licence is due for renewal. The SIA reports that the first phase has been going well and over 5,400 licence holders have already received the text reminders.

If you are a licence holder whose licence needs renewing shortly and you provided your mobile number on your SIA application form you will receive a text message reminding you that your licence is due to expire; it will also tell you when. This message will provide a link to the ‘Renewing Your Licence’ page on the SIA website.

If you would like to opt in to this service, or think that the SIA might have an old or incorrect number on file, you can submit your details by filling in the form at www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/ textupdates. Receiving text messages is optional and you will be given the choice to opt out in the first message sent. If you choose to opt out, the SIA will still send you a renewal letter through the post.
