The Armed Forces Market:

In-Service Education:


- SLCs - Standard Learning Credits: Every Service person has access to £175 per year for personal development courses/exams.
- ELCs - Enhanced Learning Credits: Service personnel can claim up to £6,000 for personal and career development for potential jobs within the Forces or career options when they leave.
- Service people have access to the same government funding and assistance as any other citizen.
- There are There are 206,150* personnel in the Armed Forces – this is the size of the market.

Resettlement Training:

Most Service leavers qualify for up to seven weeks resettlement time for personal and career development during their last two years in the Forces. This may be used for HE or FE course(s), specialist training, or an attachment with a potential employer while still drawing a Service salary.
- IRTC – Individual Resettlement Training Cost: Service leavers have access to up to £4,106 for training, accommodation and subsistence.
- ELCs of up to £6,000 and SLCs of £175 a year may be used for resettlement (see above).
- About 24,150* personnel leave the Forces every year.
