The Distance Leanring Centre provides accredited Access to Higher Education Diplomas in Biomedical Science, Health Professions, Law, Midwifery, Nursing, Paramedicine, Physiotherapy, Public Services, Psychology, Social Science, Social Work and Teaching (Biological Science). Students must have a UK residence address to be eligible to study these courses.

The Distance Learning Centre (DLC) offers a uniquely individual, friendly and supportive service to its students. This encourages students to succeed and includes pastoral support and takes into account individual commitments and circumstances. Learning Materials and Assessments are of high quality and provided in easily accessible formats which can be viewed online or printed. The DLC remains the only organisation providing Access Diplomas entirely by distance learning which means that, if you can access a computer and, if possible, a telephone, you can study from anywhere.

The Distance Learning Centre (DLC) was established in 1993, which makes it one of the longest-established organisations of its kind. This level of experience gives the DLC a strong reputation for professionalism, reliability and quality. All DLC tutors are fully qualified professional teachers, maintaining a consistent record for quality with excellent Moderation Reports from the Awarding Body. Through studying with the DLC, hundreds of students have moved on to University and ultimately into new professional careers.

Course description

Access Courses are for people who would like to study at university but who left school without the usual qualifications, such as ‘A’ levels or GCSEs. They are also useful for people wanting to find employment in the sector, which does not require a degree.
 
The course is 100% distance learning and is assessed through a series of assignments, accredited by Open College Network North West Region (OCNNWR) who are QAA approved.
 
Specialist subject areas include: Research Methods, Human Biological Science, Child Development & Welfare, Adolescence, Adulthood & Old Age, Social Conflict, Social Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Perspectives in Psychology, Biological Health & Disease, Psychopathology.
