COMPANY OVERVIEW
In This Section 1. Red Sea Relax Diving Resort 2. Why Red Sea Relax? 3. Why Train in the Red Sea? 1. Red Sea Relax Diving Resort- A Superior Choice The award winning Red Sea Relax Dive Resort has been hosting diving courses to the armed services since 2003. We are proud to hold PADI ( Professional Association of Dive Instructors) 5 Star Gold Palm Instructor Development Resort status and since 2009 National Geographic recognition. 2. Why Red Sea Relax Dive Resort? With so many Dive Schools both in UK and abroad, why us? The choice can be confusing. But a quick read about our background, ethos and facilities should make it clear why we make an excellent choice for service leavers, offering maximum value for your allowances. Reason 1: Understanding of Forces Needs & Administration The Dive School was established 7 years ago by retired LI Officer Chris Tomley. Chris’s Forces background gives us an excellent understanding of service personnel expectations and requirements plus the complications of the application process. Our crew is on hand 24/7 to guide you through each step of the process. Reason 2: Experienced Professionals At the school we employ instructors not just for their paper credentials but for their love of the sport, their respect for the environment, their strict adherence to safety standards and their proven track record in teaching. Our four Instructors have a combined teaching experience of 40 years. All staff teaching service leavers are UK natives. Reason 3: Outstanding Dive Facilities At the Dive School we boast both first rate equipment and facilities. The adjacent sandy shallows makes a perfect confined water training area and the famous Lighthouse Reef just 50m north provides an excellent area to begin your tropical water training. Reason 4: All-in-One Teaching Environment Red Sea Relax has earned a 5 Star Instructor Development Resort rating with PADI and Resort Centre status with BSAC. The key word here “Resort”. Our on- site accommodation, restaurant and training facilities mean your convenience is greatly enhanced. Service leavers enjoy full board single accommodation throughout their stay- conducive to both productive study, and a better nights rest. All rooms are equipped with air con, Sat TV, a fridge plus coffee/ tea making facilities. Reason 5: Friendly & Professional Learning Environment As a small but professional training facility, we pride ourselves on our friendly atmosphere. During your stay you’ll come to know our staff both in diving and socially. You're part of the family from arrival to qualification! Reason 6: Peace of Mind Quality: Selection of a quality establishment is crucial. Unfortunately all too many “rip off” outfits exist. Red Sea Relax is inspected regularly by the Ministry of Tourism, and bound by the standards of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. The same organisation has 5 times recognised our staff and school for excellence. Medical: Dahab is served by a hospital, 2 recompression chambers and numerous pharmacies. Additionally the School is served by an English speaking house doctor. Security: As an approved Ministry of Tourism Resort, Red Sea Relax is required to adhere to strict Security, Health and Fire regulations. The Hotel offers 24 hour security coverage and all areas are fitted with fire systems. Likewise the Dive Centre is inspected annually on European Underwater Federation ISO Quality Standard 24803/2007 and EN Quality Standard 14467/2004. 3. Why Train in The Red Sea? During your application procedure your Resettlement Officer will ask why you wish to train overseas. The advantages are numerous: Reason 1: Perfect Conditions- Ability To Reach Professional Level within Budget Red Sea Relax is based on the closest tropical waters to Europe and benefits from good weather year round. Visibility at 60-100 ft, combined with warm waters (20c-30c), make for a relaxed environment where the concentration can be on training- not conditions. Importantly it means diving is guaranteed every day- with no days lost due to poor weather- a regular occurrence in the UK . Reason 2: Future Employability At the end of your career should you wish to emigrate and work in the tropical waters of the world- it is essential that you should have trained in them and have developed a thorough knowledge of the tropical diving environment. Reason 3: Overseas- but close to home! Despite its desert location, Dahab enjoys excellent communications and amenities, making it easy to keep in touch with both your unit and family. Over 60 flights a week fly into Sharm el Sheikh, our local airport from various airports in UK. In Dahab trainees enjoy the use of: • Free WiFi or regular ADSL Internet. • UK Satellite Programming. • Excellent Mobile Coverage. • Cash Machines All of the above make Red Sea Relax an ideal choice for those committed to an exciting new career and wishing to make the most of their resettlement funding. 1. Which Professional Courses Are Available?
Red sea Relax uses the Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) training system to help service leavers reach two levels of Professional qualification: Dive Master and PADI Open Water Instructor.
Under the PADI system as described in detail below there are a variety of routes available to reach your desired level of professional qualification.
2. Why PADI Courses?
Over 80 percent of recreational divers and training centres worldwide are accredited by PADI- the Professional Association of Dive Instructors. The best chance of success in the industry is therefore afforded by gaining a professional level qualification with this organisation. Cross-over is possible from other diving organisations such as BSAC.
3. What’s my Schedule?
To get you the maximum value for your grants we run a tight schedule- and there’s no doubt that you’ll have to work hard to achieve your aims. We are helped by the fact that a training day is never lost due to weather conditions and we do of course schedule the occasional rest day.
Basic Daily Schedule:
08.00 Breakfast
08.30 Report To Dive School
08.30-12.00 Training/Diving
12.00-13-00 Lunch
13.00-17.00 Training/Diving
17.00-Evening: Self Study/Rest
4. What’s My Accommodation Like?
Quality accommodation is vital if dealing with a hectic schedule. You will be allotted a single room within the Resort complex that should provide you with the ambience for productive self study as well as quality down time in which to recharge your batteries. Facilities include air con, en-suite, tea and coffee facilities, fridge, combination safe, Satellite TV with English News and Movie channels and a sea view balcony. You meal plan from the Resort restaurant is full board. Recreationally, once study is complete, there is the on-site Sports Bar to enjoy and free use of the Resort Gymnasium facility.
5. What’s included in my Resettlement Course?
As mentioned before, at Red Sea Relax we aim to provide the greatest amount of training for your forces allowances, and at a rate cheaper than you could obtain it in UK or other parts of the world. Our training packages are all inclusive, but invoiced as required by the MOD for Training, Exams, Accommodation and Food. When signing up with Red Sea Relax you should be able to reach your desired qualification, only paying from your pocket flights (currently available from approx £120 return), your insurance, visa (available at the airport for £12) and your daily pocket money.
Our prices are below the MOD maximum claimable rates so we also save the taxpayer money too!
Remember you will only be using resettlement grants. Extended Learning Credits you have accrued can be saved for use in the 10 years after you leave the army for other training!

1. Levels
As mentioned above, two levels of Professional qualifications exist in the recreational diving industry; the Dive Master and the Instructor. These qualifications carry NVQ equivalents, are recognized and can be used worldwide. 2. What can a Dive Master Do?
· work at Dive Centres, on boats, and other exotic locations.
· lead qualified dive groups as an underwater guide.
· assist PADI Instructors on training courses.
3. What More Can a Instructor Do?
· teach PADI qualifying courses up to Dive Master- anywhere in the world.
4. Can I really use my qualifications?
Working as a Professional Scuba Diver after qualifying- just a dream right? On the contrary - hundreds of people today (some as a result of their resettlement courses) earn a living, and live that dream working in an industry that:
· supports an estimated 5-7 million ACTIVE divers worldwide*
· has an estimated 5,000 training establishments worldwide*
· saw approximately half a million new divers qualify in 2000*
* according to statistics of the PADI 2001.
Making it as a top diving professional is not easy but the rewards can be exceptional.
Our own Instructors are living proof that a living can be earned in recreational diving.
Your training can lead to paid work not just in UK in some of the most exotic locations on earth.. Where else would your 9 to 5 be made up of activities other people only do on holiday?
“Find a job you love and you’ll never work another day in your life!” Confusus
6. Which Courses can I do for my Grants?
Depending on years served and previous diving experience (if any) it is possible to reach the professional qualification of Dive Master or Instructor using your GRT (Graduated Resettlement Time).
Service leavers short of GRT days can choose to qualify using a combination of GRT and terminal leave.
Others choose to do some of the preliminary courses in UK- allowing them to save the GRT and allowances for the qualifications in Egypt.
We offer various routes to help you reach your desired level dependant on you experience and GRTs.
