How do you know which training provider to choose when there are so many to choose from? Some areas to consider could be:

1. Look at who they are accredited by
2. Look at their staff and their qualifications
3. Look at the price – are they too dear or even too cheap?Any VAT?
4.Can you visit the Training Provider without an appointment?
5.Space available

Accreditations

Able Skills is an accredited centre securing approval to deliver qualification training from City & Guilds, Construction Awards Alliance, EAL, NICEIC and CITB for gas training and assessment. We are amongst the few training providers who can offer you progression and if qualifications are your choice – take you from novice to expert.

Staff & Facilities

All of our Instructors are time served and construction specific qualified but each tutor has also achieved the required teaching and assessing awards. All of our Instructors work full time at Able Skills and only deliver the courses which they are qualified to do. We are very proud of the staff employed at Able Skills; please visit our staff page to see potentially who your instructor may be. Having full time dedicated staff allows us to run all of our courses all of the time in dedicated training areas. We do not share work areas with other trades for example: you will not be falling over a Bricklayer whilst undertaking your Plumbing training and so on.

Price

All of the training available varies in price; we are not the cheapest but we are not the most expensive. We do believe in providing a value for money service and we have no hidden costs, no extras to pay and all of our costs include VAT. We do believe that everyone should have access to training which is why we offer the most reasonable payment plans. Even if these are not within your financial range, we can provide you with details of available adult funding options.

Summary

We do not hard sell, cold call or visit your home – We do not employ a Sales Team!
We do however believe in honesty and will not attempt to recruit you under false pretences.

When you call or visit with an enquiry, we will always make it clear as to what you can expect from the training you are seeking and also provide you with details of what your options are should you choose to take your training to the next level.

We have flexible training programmes to fit in with just about every possible working scenario, flexible payment plans to try to suit everyone’s financial circumstances, large subject specific Training Centres and as previously stated, qualified, full time, dedicated staff.

We take pride in everything we do from our non accredited training courses right through to qualification based courses. We are aware that not everyone is seeking a qualification but we continue to ensure that even these programmes are taught by qualified instructors so you are assured that you are treated with the same dedication as those training for qualifications.

If qualifications are your aim, Able Skills has the relevant approvals in place to progress you. We can offer qualifications at levels 1, 2 and 3 and as an NVQ assessment centre we fully understand the processes in place to obtain an NVQ. Some training centres will lead you to believe that an NVQ can be achieved within a training environment or without underpinning knowledge, this is not the case. If we can’t offer you what you want, we will tell you and try and redirect you to the best of our ability. We can guide you in the right direction once we know what you are looking to achieve, your options vary dependent upon what trade you are interested in, whether you are considering employment or self employment and what kind of time you have available to you. We know the construction industry well and consistently remain up to date with changes and practices to ensure the highest level of training is available at Able Skills.

Cost/Location/Training

Our training patterns are amongst the most flexible available. We can provide weekend training, separated blocks of training and the flexibility to spread the training over a period of up to 18 months.

Intensive Tiling Courses from Able Skills

Able Skills is the UKs No.1 Tiling Course Training Centre. Our tiling courses are designed to give you a good understanding in all areas of tiling whether you are a total beginner or someone who has some knowledge of tiling.

This intensive tiling course is entirely hands on and you will develop tiling skills which will give you the confidence and knowledge to attempt tiling tasks after you have left the Centre.

As a City & Guilds Approved Centre, with Assessors and Internal Verifiers on site, you can be assured that equal training and facilities will be offered to everyone attending all courses. Our Tiling instructors, Max and Terry, take total pride in their skills and are keen to pass their knowledge onto others who are eager to make a start in the tiling industry.

5 Day Intensive Tiling Courses includes:

o Setting out your tiling work.

o Explaining all the different adhesives used for different surfaces.

o Demonstrating all the tools required.

o Cutting tiles using wet tile cutters, dry tile cutters, tile scribes, tile snips and tile saws.

o Explaining tiling involving Borders, Diamonds and Patterns.

o How to cut around windows and reveals.

o How to cope with tiling difficult areas such as uneven walls.

o How to tile angled ceilings and socket areas.

o How to tile splash-backs.

o How to tile around boxed in pipes.

All aspects of wall and floor tiling will be covered and both kitchen and bathroom tiling will be taught on this course.

You will work in an area equipped with sanitary ware so you will learn how to cut around obstacles such as WCs and pedestals using quality tools such as RUBI cutters. You will also be shown how to grout and finish to a high standard and how to use silicone sealants.

We will cover every aspect of tiling, and feel confident that after spending 5 or 10 days with us you will be ready to tackle everyday tiling requirements. Whether you are planning to do your own bathroom/kitchen or someone else’s, we feel this Tiling course will provide you with the confidence you need.

This course can also be covered over 2 consecutive week ends should you have other commitments which prevent you from attending Monday – Friday. Course content remains unaffected by this.

In addition, you can opt to spend a further 5 days with us on our Advanced Tiling Courses. This additional 5 day course will cover more complex areas of tiling.

Tiling for a living

If you are looking at a career change and want to become a full time Tiler, Able Skills also offers a 3 week tiling package incorporating a City & Guilds Unit Accreditation and a 4 week tiling course which also covers training for tiling using Natural Stone (slate and marble). If you are planning a career long term and are maybe considering a route to NVQ, Able Skills also offers you the opportunity to train for 6 weeks or 8 weeks. These longer training plans delve that little bit deeper into tiling and gives you the opportunity to look at your technique, gain confidence and build speed. These particular tiling courses cover additional specialist tiling and other tiling related areas so that tiling for a living will come easy to you. In addition, you will be taught how to build a working portfolio, how to gather evidence of your competence and you will fully understand what kind of evidence is relevant..

Qualifications offered

Summary

At the end of your tiling course you will receive an Able Skills Certificate of completion and you can also have a portfolio and photographs of the stages of the work you have carried out during the period you have trained with us; this may assist you in gaining employment at a later stage.

Able Skills now has a DIY Forum and this can be used by you at any time to pose questions to our tiling instructors so if you find yourself stuck on any tiling job at any time, they are on hand to help.

Additionally, we can provide you with a Business start up pack containing useful information and guidance on printing (business cards), opening a business bank account, public liability insurance and website design.
